One Degree Makes all the Difference

This week someone asked me if there was something wrong with them. It’s a very vulnerable question, and the answer that came to me was both profound and obvious.

The only thing wrong with anybody is how many degrees away from Jesus they are.

It seems obvious, the whole ‘what would Jesus do’ thing has been around for awhile, but it really is the standard at which we should be trying to live our lives. So how do we do that? and how do we know when we’re succeeding?

First, I want to clarify. When I say be like Jesus I don’t mean literally that you have to be a male and die on a cross to save humanity to be perfect. We’re working from a slightly different definition here. Instead of perfect in the sense of ‘exactly like’, we’re talking perfect as in ‘whole’ or ‘in exact alignment with.’

The hardest part about this of course is that in ordered to know if we’re in alignment with God we have to talk with him and receive and answer. Preferably everyday, all day. Scripture says to ‘pray without ceasing‘.

How and what to pray can get intimidating. How do we know if we’re asking the right question? What phrasing should we use? The answer is simple. Ask. God knows, so ask what words you should use and how often you should pray. Ask for help remembering to pray.

I say these things not because I’m perfect, but because I’ve discovered a way to be in alignment, and even if I’m not always in alignment, I can still share useful things when I am.

God Bless

Cynthia
