I embroidered an apron this week. I know I’m not a farmer, and it may not have the most practical uses, but there’s something about wearing an apron that makes working more enjoyable. Especially if said apron makes you feel pretty.

So I decided to buy myself a cute apron, and instead of just leaving it at that I wanted to make it mine. So I did. I made the pattern on Canva, printed it, and realized I didn’t have a very good plan for getting the pattern onto the fabric. After much struggle and many frustrations, I decided to free hand the whole thing. It went…well enough. I ended up taking a few characters out and re-doing them, but overall it turned out well and I’m happy with it.

As you can see in the photos, I used purple thread because that’s my favorite color. I absolutely love doing house work and taking care of the chicks while wearing this apron, it makes me feel like I’m living in a fairy tale. I really enjoy being domestic in this apron, so the time and money spent was totally worth it!

It reminds me of a story my Mother told about wearing her wedding tiara while doing housework. It’s one of those things you might not get a good opportunity to wear again, so instead of worrying about rules and formalities and what’s socially appropriate, just take a moment and do whatever you need to do to make the load feel lighter and more fun.

Enjoying our daily life is important for many reasons, so if it makes it easier for you physically, mentally, or emotionally, then do it! Dare to be silly and do whatever works for you. Dance while doing the dishes, or sing while folding the laundry, take a break to tickle attack your child and leave the chores for another moment. Life is meant to be enjoyed.
