Rock Report: Spring Cleaning and Roof Repair

This spring I repaired my rv roof all by myself! Well, not really because my family was very helpful with babysitting so as to free up my hands.

Also, huge shout-out to Humphrey RV for having the materials I needed on hand and the experienced advice that pointed me to starter fluid! That stuff works like actual magic XD

But anyway, here’s the before and after photos of the roof. First, the skylight was removed:

Then I cleaned it with hot soapy and water and the starter fluid to reverse twenty years of dirt and grime:

It’s literally sparkling clean!! Anyway, next I installed the new skylight, which I was able to pickup locally at Humphrey RV.

Isn’t it gorgeous!? I also patched a hole or two, the biggest of which I took photos for.

The previous owners taped this hole but the tape had peeled up and left a thick layer of adhesive for me to peel off. A flat blade screw driver, soapy water, and more starter fluid solved that quickly!

Then some fresh tape and some more sealant:

So there we have it! I repaired the roof and for the rest of spring cleaning I deep cleaned the windows. I had all sorts of other ambitions of vacuuming and organizing every section of my living space, but when you have a nine month old you have to curb your expectations sometimes. I got done what I felt was most important and that’s what matters.

See you next time!

P. S what project did you conquer this spring?
